Amren Conference member loses job

Hey kids, this is a "Don't Do Drugs" promotinal, but this time it is about an adult male who lost his job after attending a white supremacist hate rally. His name is Michael Regan, and he was a part-time prosecutor for Allegany County in New York. He was then fired after his supervisiors learned he attended the American Renaissance conference last week in northern Virginia, and made a public statement to the Washington Post declaring his ties with the conference.

The message: Don't press your luck with hate groups. This will make a nice addition to our Wanted Information page. If you have any information about these kind of events, please email us.

  • Wow. What a disgusting human being you are. As an Independent, neither Right nor Left (lots of us out there) I find your glee immature but the implications worse.
Are you so afraid of free speech that you have to smear anyone who disagrees with you. You sound very Authoritarian. "Hate Group" "Hate Site" etc. And you and cowards and ignoramouses like you are only going to provoke a confrontation.
My guess is that you are either a White Gentile Hating Jew, or a self-hating Shabass Goy (a useful idiot). Either way you're repellent and obnoxious.

Actually, given how stupid and hateful your website is, and how thoughtful and intelligent, not to mention respectful, the websites of Mr. Sailer and American Renaissance, it could be that you actually work FOR THEM. You know, since your site is SO dumb, SO poisonous, then these guys can't be ALL that bad.

In that case, keep up the good work.

  • The implications of this are truly frightening. If we are to permit people to be hounded out of their jobs for their political opinions or membership of perfectly legal organisations that is fascistic and the modern equivalent of an Inquisition. We cannot allow self-apointed vigilantes to decide that a legal organisation is a "hate group" and then drive its supporters out of their jobs.

Like the Inquisition it uses force, emotion and hysteria rather than reason or evidence.

  • Well, it's nice to talk about how disgusting job discrimination is or whatever, but government employees as I understand it really aren't supposed to participate in such events. Both my parents are members of the judicial branch, as I understand it they're not supposed to be too vocal on their positions on one thing or another (because this could expose a certain level of bias one direction or another).

Perfectly legal is one thing, but politicians have a goal to be politically correct much like news organizations do (see the firing of Imus) and when people don't toe the line and keep the right profile, they might have problems keeping their position. This guy (the one who got fired) should have had more sense.

  • When you are in a public position or obtain a higher salary, you have higher standards to maintain.

Some racists wonder why Don Imus got fired, but for someone who is getting paid millions to broadcast to a national audience, the higher standards come with the territory.

Michael Regan was a public prosecutor representing a New York county of many diverse people, so he has higher standards to maintain, as he was trusted to watch over a large and diverse population.

They both messed up, and they both deserve their consequences.
